Friday night after we put Collin to bed I hung a huge sign on the dining room wall that said "Happy 3rd Birthday Collin". We had gotten him some Thomas the train stuff so I got that out so he would see it first thing in the morning. On Saturday-his actual birthday,we got up and as soon as he walked down the stairs he just stood there in awe with his mouth open and all he said was "WOW"-mission accomplished!! Then we took Collin to his favorite place to eat breakfast...Waffle House. I had nothing to do with that-daddy takes him there while Mama is at work-lol!
Later that night, we had a special dinner of spaghetti and BIG meatballs. Ever since we went to Bucca di Beppo for Alexis' birthday he is all about the big meatballs. Their meatballs are enormous-over a half pound each!! So, rather than attempting to make big meatballs as requested I did the next best thing...bought them!! From Bucca of course!
Nana,Pop, Grandma Patsy, and Peyton came over for dinner and birthday cake. I'm trying to make a tradition of making Collin a homemade birthday cake that represents something he really liked that year. For his first birthday I made a caterpillar like the one on Baby Einstein, year two was Elmo and this year was a football and a very yummy football I must add!! Every time I asked Collin what kind of cake he wanted he would say "Dora". I was fully prepared to make a Dora cake but on Wyatt's request I skipped the Dora cake and got him a big blow up Dora balloon instead. Collin seemed perfectly happy with the football cake-of course!!
Collin loves balloons so those were a gift in themselves. After dinner it was time to open presents. He got some new puzzles and books and then for the BIG SUPRISE!! The face was priceless as he pulled the blankets off of his very own Harley Davidson Motorcycle-aka BooBoo cycle just like daddy's!!He was so excited and a little scared at first. Before long he was doing tricks and crashing in to things then falling off-very dramatically of course!
Sunday was the big birthday bash at The World of Bounce. We decided to request donations for a Guatemalan charity in leiu of gifts. Collin has so many toys and we really just wanted an opportunity for him to play with lots of other kids and have a fun memorable day. I think we succeeded! We got a ton of donations and I think everybody had a great time. I know we did!!
For that party our friend Dianne made a fabulous baseball field cake and baseball and ball glove cookies to pass out as favors to all the little ones. They were a huge hit-no pun intended!!
I think it is safe to say that Collin had a fantastic 3rd birthday! He has brought so much to our lives in the past few years. It brings us indescribable joy to see a big smile on his face while he enjoys spending fun times with his family and friends. We are so lucky to have so many great people in our lives!!
