POTTY PARTY

Another First!! Collin officially went pee pee on the potty today!! He has done it a couple of times before but today was a "full pee" and boy did we have a potty party!! Not that I have really been making an effort to potty train him. I have been of the mindset that if I provide him the "tools" aka a fun Elmo potty and fun big boy underwear and a little gentle encouragement that he will do it in his time. I quickly learned that forcing the issue will not lead to success with him!! This weekend he started showing all the "signs"-interest in the potty, taking off his clothes and running around naked,taking his own diaper off, and he tried on every pair of big boy underwear he owns and modeled them in front of the mirror.

Today, we were at my moms and he stripped down to a shirt so I sat the potty in front of the TV. Quite frankly I just thought he was going to sit there all day and watch TV so we went on about our business when I hear "mama I did it"! I looked and what do you know...he DID IT!! Yee-Haw!! So, we will see if he does it again. Of course we are leaving for the cruise on Saturday, not exactly the ideal situation for potty training but we will just go with the flow-no pun intended!!

Sorry-I have a couple of pics for Favorite Foto Friday...and it's actually Saturday...but, hey, who's counting??? These were taken on a trip to the zoo a couple of weeks ago. Since I was MIA for a while, I missed posting them. Collin had a great time checking out the gorillas! He thought it was funny that the gorillas were eating celery just like him. Of course, the gorilla then proceeded to throw up in his hand and eat it...uuhh...time to go Collin!!!! YUCK!!

Super Collin and Bat Bear take on the World!

My son is CRAZY! One of his latest obsessions is Batman-all from a stinking pair of PJs!! His Noni took him to Build-a-Bear and he chose to make BAT BEAR!!Now,they are partners fighting crime and suppressing evil in all of Wilsonville. Evil Pablo gets the majority of the abuse but as you can tell Pablo can fend for himself. It appears that he is biting Collin's leg in one of the pics.They have very spirited battles in the jungle (AKA Collin's playroom).







And when the action is over and it's time for my little superhero to relax what could be better than a little flashcard time on Mama's iphone. Yes, he knows how to operate the stinking thing!! He can turn it on, unlock it, find his "games", look at pictures and video, listen to itunes and just about anything else. I will say the iphone does have some fun apps for kids-although I try NOT to let him get a hold of my phone too often!!





Ah yes-can't forget the week 2 preschool art!! I may have to change the decor in one of our rooms so we can frame these!! I really do like the colors-it reminds me of rainbow sherbet-YUM!

September COFLAC Outing

September was out month to host the outing for our Guatemalan adoption group. We had lots of fun activities planned outside. We were holding it at a park near our house that we go to just about every day. We were going to have a scavenger hunt, an "eyeball" hunt (really Easter eggs made to look like eyeballs), we had an art project and a hike to the caves. The weather had been beautiful for days until an hour before we were to start our outing!! I had all intentions of cancelling but thought we better pack up and go to the park just in case. I assumed no one would show. Believe it or not,with 2 definite cancellations we still ended up with 6 families. I felt kind of bad because I packed everything up but people just kept showing up! The kids didn't mind a little rain and the adults were real troopers! We didn't do all of our planned activities but the kids played on the playground and we explored Indian Village and the caves.The kids seemed to love it! The down side to it all is I volunteered to host next month as well thinking that this month would be cancelled so now I need to work on a Halloween Costume party!! Luckily, there have been several volunteers to help so it won't all be on me!!





I was a little nervous about climbing around on the rocks when they were wet but everyone made it out alive-only one minor injury, and he didn't even know he was hurt until we noticed he was bleeding-LOL!!




So we ended the day with a bunch of wet muddy kids-just the way they should be!!!!

Collin's Funny Facts

Anytime Collin is at preschool or Tumblecubs and it is time to gather together and sing a song Collin will stand apart from the group and sing "Take me out to the Ballgame"while everyone else is singing the song they are supposed to be singing.WTH?!?!

Last week was Collin's first week of Tykes (parent-child preschool). Thank goodness I scheduled him on a Monday because I haven't been able to take him yet! Wyatt got to take him his first day and again today-bummer!! Wyatt doesn't seem to mind though since there are hot moms there-lol! I, on the other hand, am incredibly bummed! I was happy to find a parent-child class for us to attend. He's only 2 1/2 and although they offered a drop off class, I'm not ready to give up any quality time with him quite yet. We really only have our mornings together before I go to work and I like to try to make the most of that time. Both of us are off on Mondays so I thought Wyatt and I could trade weeks taking him to school and that would give each of us an hour or so of alone time on our day off but the master plan has not quite worked out as planned. Oh the trials and tribulations of a working mom!!

Last week Collin brought home his first ever official "school art". In order to not be accused of being a hoarder and finding myself on a reality TV show, I have decided to document his art in photographs rather than keep every single masterpiece. I was told that the paper plate art was done on an old record player and they used markers to color the plates as they spun around.







Hopefully next week I will be able to take him-it's picture day!!

Sunday was Collin's 2 year homecoming anniversary. We surprised him with a big bunch of balloons which he loved, especially the giant Pablo. So, here he is giving Pablo a big hug. Excuse the fact that he's not wearing pants-LOL-he keeps taking them off lately!!

Happy Homecoming Day!!

Two years ago today we arrived home with our little bundle of joy! Today-he is still our little bundle of joy but a little bigger and much faster! We had a great day today. We took Collin to ride on Thomas the Train. He seemed to really enjoy it! He doesn't really know Thomas in general but he definitely knows the train!! I'm hoping after seeing the prices of Thomas that he NEVER gets to know him!! We will definitely have to get him a train table for his birthday or Christmas. He LOVES playing with trains! I actually saw a really cool train table at IKEA and it is about a third of the price of Thomas.

They had lots of activities for the kids-hay maze, putt-putt, thomas tatoos, train sets, stamps, jumping houses, pictures, balloons, magic show and of course a gift shop. Collin's favorite part of the whole thing-the baseball diamond! We must have run the bases 20 times! We had to drag him away!






Noni and Pop were nice enough to deliver a big bunch of balloons to the house while we were gone so Collin got to come home to a suprise just like he did the first time he came home two years ago. He was half asleep when he walked in but he saw those ballons and it was all over.


Later we had a 3rd birthday party to attend-and they had a Thomas the Train cake! It was really cute. It really looked like a train and it tasted pretty darn good! Collin ate a huge piece-which is probably why he is still running around like a little maniac right now when he should be headed to bed.


I think we had a great family day together celebrating our very special day!

There are just too many pictures of friends. While searching for pictures I noticed that most of Collin's friends are girls! We are going to have to work on that!!
