Friday I took the day off to spend with Collin. We attended the Columbus Police Memorial Service downtown.
Collin mostly played with other kids but I was excited to get to take him to an event with other Police Officers kids. I always remember attending events like this as a kid and it was nice to know other kids who's parents were PO's. I still run into lots of them now that we are all grown up and some of us are even police officers continuing the tradition.
I tried to warn Collin in advance that they would shoot off guns and attempted to keep track of when they would do the 21 gun salute so I could "monitor the situation". Of course, I got sidetracked and forgot until they fired and Collin ran at top speed screaming "MMMMMAAAAMMMMAAAAA" in the complete opposite direction so I had to sprint after him.
Next we headed to the zoo.Matt and Anne-Marie our old neighbors stopped by Thursday completely out of the blue-they moved all the way to Massachusetts so it's not like they just stop by!They were coming back in town Friday to go to the zoo so we decided to tag along!
We got to see the new polar bear exhibit which is really nice. They have a really neat underwater viewing area as well as an above water area. We are really lucky to have such a great zoo!
Collin really wanted to see the elephants for some reason-not sure why but he kept asking to go see them. He was asking lots of questions!
We played in the play area for quite some time. I hate going to the play area because it is huge and has lots of levels that the kids can climb up and go down different slides. Collin finally figured out how to get up last year but then got scared and freaked out-meaning I had go up to save him. There was no coaxing the crazy screaming kid down on his own! Let's just say they don't make those things for adults-especially closterphobic adults!! But, I had to rescue my kid so up I went contorting my body into positions I didn't know were possible, through little tunnels and wobbly nets then back down with a scared kid clinging to me like a little monkey. So I was NOT looking forward to the play area!
He started out in the little kids area which made me very happy but eventually ventured over to the big kid area and up he went...oh boy, here we go again! He did great! He made it all the way up and was all over that thing. He even went down all of the slides except for one.
The fun came screaching to a halt though when little brat bully kid jumped my little angel and started pummling him as he tried to go down the slide. Then he proceeded to jump any kid that tried to enter his territory. Now I'm not the only mom wanting to ring that little brats neck as we all look around just begging someone to claim this kid! I dare you! Of course, supervision for the 3-4 year old is nowhere to be found. Shocking..now it all makes sense.

Sunday we had a little birthday celebration for Peyton's 16th birthday!
And spent the rest of the weekend out working and playing in the yard. Collin helped daddy plant the garden again but I was so busy working that I didn't get any pictures. I better watch it or I'll lose my mamarazzi status!
Great pictures! I love the blue tongue that is cute :)
ReplyDeleteI love the memorial story...that totally sounds like something Dmitry would have done! :)
